Im 15 i want to get in better shape for next years basketball team.?

Hi everyone its summer holidays and i need to get in better shape to make the high school junior team im not well conditioned i do not have abs not really looking for them , so i was wondering if i jog everyday this summer and cut down on my meals , not eat junk food and drink lots of water and do some sit ups and lift weight and drink protein shakes will it help build my cardio and muscle?
